Here’s a rundown of our favorite spots where the wine is delicious and you can keep getting fresh air while staying warm.
Doukenie Winery
Doukenie Winery has a fully enclosed, heated pavilion, and plenty of views for you to absorb along with the vino and the heat. You can also have delicious s’mores, and there’s a dedicated area for families and for pets. Reservations are required. 14727 Mountain Rd., Hillsboro
Barrel Oak Winery
You can get an octagon-shaped plastic-enclosed heated bubble where you can sip like you’re in an upside-down fishbowl, but stay warm. You have to reserve the bubbles in advance and they seat seven. You’ll have beautiful views and access to Barrel Oak’s Grab & Go pantry for snacks to pair with your wine or beer. 3623 Grove Ln., Delaplane
Greenhill Winery
The outdoor situation at Greenhill Winery is good for those people who positively cannot stand being cold. There are 10 fire pits and 16 propane heaters — and no children — at the adults-only winery. Make your reservations now. 23595 Winery Ln., Middleburg
Cana Vineyards
Cold hands appreciate the warm table heaters on Cana Vineyards’ deck. There are several now ubiquitous fire pits scattered across the lawn. No reservations needed as tables are assigned on a first come, first served basis. 38600 John Mosby Hwy., Middleburg
Bluemont Vineyard
Nestled on top of a mountain, you’ll definitely want to take your drink outside for awe-inspiring views. Reserve a fire table for up to six guests to enjoy the scenery for $50, which is used as a deposit for your final bill. Reservations are required. 18755 Foggy Bottom Rd., Bluemont
