Some gather for the game; some gather for the eats. Mash garlic and avocados for your Super Bowl guacamole with this locally made mortar and pestle. Leesburg-based potter Amy Manson uses hearty stoneware clay (dishwasher- and oven-safe) for her pieces and leaves the inside of the mortar and the tip of the pestle unglazed. The raw clay, says Manson, has a “little bit of grit to it that helps with the grinding.” // $30
