NoVA Pets of the Month: This Dog and Cat Need Forever Homes

Meet Bear from the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, and Zoey, who is currently at Middleburg Humane Foundation.

Every month, Northern Virginia Magazine features a dog and cat available for adoption through local rescues. September’s pets of the month include a shy cat named Bear and playful pup Zoey.

Meet Bear

Bear is a sweet 8-year-old black-and-white cat at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. He’s a little shy and stressed in the shelter, so he might take some time to warm up to new people, but he’s a friendly and cuddly cat once you get to know him. Bear is looking for a caring companion and a quiet home with plenty of treats — of both the crunchy and lickable varieties, thank you very much — and a window to gaze out of.

Meet Zoey

Zoey can’t get enough of playing fetch and loves spending time playing with frisbees and balls in the yard. Zoey, who is at Middleburg Humane Foundation, can be a bit shy with strangers but does warm up quickly. Zoey has experience living with kids but would prefer to be the only pet in the home. She is comfortable and calm while riding in the car.
