Each month, we feature a dog and cat that are available for adoption through Northern Virginia animal rescues. January’s featured pets include the energetic dog Nyla and bonded cat pair, Lily and Sandee.
Dog of the Month: Meet Nyla
Nyla is a 17-month-old tan and white female dog. The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria calls her “the personal trainer you’ve been seeking after a December of decadence.” She is an energetic girl, and is happy to get you out for a run, long walk, or bicep and triceps workout by throwing her balls for long games of fetch.
While she does love to be active, Nyla enjoys a good snuggle with her favorite stuffed toys. Her pet adoption fees have already been paid by a donor, so she is ready for her forever home today. Read more about Nyla.
Cat of the Month: Meet Lily and Sandee
Lily and Sandee are at Loudoun County Animal Services and have been through a lot together. They arrived at the animal shelter after their owner died. Despite this tragedy, they are a resilient duo. Lily is the first to greet people when they enter the room. She loves to say hello with a funny, raspy little meow. Once she checks out new people, Sandee emerges from her bed and greets you, winding through your legs and head bumping them.
Lily loves pets ASAP while Sandee enjoys settling in next to you, purring the day away. The girls love visitors, including children who come in to read to them through a children’s reading program offered by the shelter. Lily and Sandee have previously lived with a dog and did well. Loudoun County Animal Services has more information online if you’re interested in learning more about Lily and Sandee, or pet adoption.
