The fall is shaping up to be a good season for pet lovers. Pet shows are coming to NoVA, and they’re the perfect spot to shop for your kitty or test your pup in agility competitions. And if you don’t have either of those pets yet, it’s where you can adopt a rescue! Here’s where to catch a critter convention in NoVA.
10th Annual Fredericksburg Pet Show
On the weekend of September 18 through 19, the pets are gathering in Fredericksburg.
The 10th Annual Fredericksburg Pet Show will feature a fun lineup of activities to try with pets of all kinds. Bring your own pet, or just go by yourself to experience the concentration of adorableness.
The event will take place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, and children 12 and under are free. If you are bringing your pet, just make sure to register them ahead of time.
The lineup will include more than twenty vendors, including independent makers like Dog Gone It Gifts and Pup My Style.
In addition to shopping, attendees will have the opportunity to chill with live reptiles and marsupials through animal demonstrations by All Creatures Animal Education and Awesome Possumz. Plus, you’ll get to see pups show off their best abilities through the Pup ‘N Iron agility courses.
Most exciting for the kids, Milford Meadow Farm will be offering pony rides for an additional fee.
Other Upcoming Pet Expos in NoVA
On September 12th, the Loudoun Pet Expo will welcome dogs from all over the region. The free event will feature adoptions and other vendors, plus face painting, food, and music. Dog swims (in a real pool!) and dog races are a highlight of the event. Dogs can also run free at the adjacent dog park. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The dog swim is $5.
The Northern Virginia Reptile Expo will take place across several upcoming dates, on August 28, October 9, and December 11, at Prince William County Fairgrounds in Manassas. It’ll feature plenty of different types of snakes, plus supplies and books on raising reptiles for sale. The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and it’s $8 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 11, and 5 and under are free.
