When COVID-19 first hit the region in March, the annual Super Pet Expo was one of the first big events in Northern Virginia to be canceled in response to the pandemic. Now, as the region continues to recover, the Super Pet Expo is returning this month at the Dulles Expo Center.
The pet friendly event is now making its return Friday, Aug. 28 to Sunday, Aug. 30, for a weekend full of fun for you and your pets. Ticket prices range from $13 for adults, $8 for children ages 4 to 12 and free for children ages 3 and younger.
When at the expo, guests can expect to see a few new features throughout the weekend. This includes a demonstration by National Dog Champion Trainer Chrissy Joy and her dog Good Beasley. The duo will participate and demonstrate Treibball, a soccer-like game designed for dogs who enjoy chasing, playing games and herding. Dogs who attend the expo may participate in the exercise as well.
Guests will also be able to learn everything about hermit crabs at the Mister Crabs Show. In this section, visitors will be able to watch demonstrations on hermit crab conservation, care and how to build a “crabitat.” During this session, attendees will also have the opportunity to hold and interact with the hermit crabs.
Along with the new events, attendees can plan on seeing some of their favorite events and demonstrations return. Make your way to the reptile and exotic pet feature that showcases thousands of animals in the more than 20,000-square-foot space. The beloved dog agility demonstrations and workshops will also be back this year. After you see the professionals in action, attend the free class to let your pooches try it out for themselves.
The venue and event staff are also putting extra safety measures in place to make sure both staff and guests feel protected during the weekend event. The new safety precautions during the weekend include a face mask requirement, temperature checks for all staff members and wider booths to ensure social distancing. // Dulles Expo Center: 4320 Chantilly Shopping Center, Chantilly
