It’s time to hit the ice. Northern Virginia’s largest ice skating rink in Arlington is open for the winter.
Before you lace up your skates, you may want to make a reservation at Westpost in Arlington. The 7,200-square-foot Westpost rink used to be known as Pentagon Row. The rink’s website does not yet reflect the new name, but the pricing and hours are up to date.

The rink, which is also the state’s second largest, features a dual-sided stone fireplace for when you need to warm up.
You can make reservations up to two weeks in advance and for a price that’s cheaper than walking up. The online price for seniors and those 12 and under is $10. For 13 and older, it’s $11. Rental of skates or double blades for little children will run you $6 a pair.
The walk-up price is $2 higher for everyone except seniors.
A reservation gets you two hours of skating time, and you need to show up within 10 minutes of your reservation.
The website lists hours and holiday hours for ice skating. The rink is open Saturdays through Mondays starting at 10 a.m. It opens at noon the rest of the week. The rink closes at 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and at 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Here are the holiday hours:
- Thanksgiving Day: 10 a.m.–11 p.m.
- Christmas Eve: 10 a.m.–11 p.m.
- Christmas Day: 10 a.m.–11 p.m.
- December 26–30: 10 a.m.–10 p.m.
- New Year’s Eve: 10 a.m.–9 p.m.
- New Year’s Day: 10 a.m.–11 p.m.
The rink, which will be open until mid-March, is available as a site for birthday parties and to host fundraisers, although there are some restrictions on availability. 1201 S. Joyce St., Arlington
