Call it a goal. The Alexandria Soccer Association will get $25,000 to install water bottle filling stations at the city’s recreational facilities.
The grant comes from the nonprofit American Water Charitable Foundation, which partnered with Virginia American Water, to provide the grant.
The filling stations will be put at filling stations across Alexandria, according to a news release. The release does not specify how many filling stations will be installed, or when the work will be done.
“Filling stations are an important asset that encourage hydration and help discourage single use water bottles that litter our planet and harm the environment,” said Thomas Park, executive director of the Alexandria Soccer Association.
The nonprofit soccer association offers soccer programs to children and adults of all abilities. It offers a number of programs, including spring leagues for kids, summer camps, and women’s soccer programs.
