Noah and Charlotte ranked as the most popular baby names in Virginia in 2022, according to the state health department’s Office of Vital Records.
While the numbers are still being counted, a news release estimates a similar number of children were born in 2022 as in 2021 when there were 95,618 births.

Fifty years ago, state data shows the most popular names were Michael and Jennifer.
Here are a few more tidbits about 2022 births in Virginia, according to the Office of Vital Records:
- Virginia saw the most births in August – 8,917 babies.
- Delivery rooms turned out to be the busiest on Fridays – 14,429 babies.
- Sundays ended up the slowest day of the week for deliveries – 8,746.
- Sets of twins born – 1,344.
- Sets of triplets – 19.
