Fairfax County newest library is opening soon. The 30,000-square-foot Kingstowne Regional Library, located in the Franconia Governmental Center, will open on Saturday, April 11, at 10 a.m.
The library is hosting a variety of free opening day events. They include a 10 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony and a story time and parade with Princess Belle from noon to 2 p.m.
The Lane Elementary School choir will perform at 11 a.m., and the Hayfield High honors orchestra will perform at 2 p.m.
Guests can snap pictures in a photo booth from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The library will also host scavenger hunts and games throughout the day.

The new regional library replaces the former Kingstowne Community Library, which closed in February. Its collection consists of 55,000 items, including 36,802 that were moved from the prior location and 18,500 new items.
The new Franconia Governmental Center also houses a police station, the Franconia district supervisor’s office, a museum, an active adult center, and a childcare center. 7130 Silver Lake Blvd., Alexandria
