Kids and Family Festival Petting Zoo at Shipgarten

Spring Fest at McLean Community Center

Carlyle House Family Fun Day — Poetry Palooza
April 5, noon–3 p.m.
Spend the afternoon reading and crafting at the Carlyle House Magnolia Terrace on the first Saturday of the month. From April through November, there will be themed afternoons, with Poetry Palooza up first. The program is for all ages, but some of the crafts may be difficult for children under 4. 121 N. Get Hooked! at Reservoir Park

If you’re looking to get your little ones to try a new hobby, consider teaching them how to fish. Participants will learn all of the essentials along with sustainable practices, like catch-and-release methods. Sensory Friendly Family Evening at Mount Vernon
April 22, 6–7 p.m.
Neurodivergent individuals and their families are welcome to explore Mount Vernon for an evening. Guests get a sensory bag upon arrival, while supplies last. Earth Day Every Day on Langston Boulevard
April 27, 11 a.m.–5 p.m., free
The annual event, now in its fourth year, includes community exhibits, an art market, the Arlington Art Truck, food and drink vendors, and kids’ activities. The event is funded through private donations and sponsorships and works to bring the community together to help it become a more environmentally sustainable and livable place.
