Every fall we all go looking for The Great Pumpkin, but now is your chance to do it with the Peanuts gang. Take a trip to the East Broad Top Railroad in Pennsylvania to ride the PEANUTS The Great Pumpkin Patch Express.
The excursion runs on Saturdays and Sundays starting the weekend of October 12–13 and running through October 26–27.
The nearly three-hour experience features a 60-minute round-trip train ride to Sincere Pumpkin Patch, where you can take in the beauty of Aughwick Valley and its changing autumn leaves. The century-old steam engine features enclosed passenger cars, open-air cars, and an authentic caboose. All passengers will enjoy a reading of It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown by Charles M. Schulz before arriving at the Sincere Pumpkin Patch.

Once you arrive at the pumpkin patch, meet up with Snoopy and Charlie Brown for 90 minutes of nonstop fun. Not only will riders be able to pick out the perfect pumpkin, but they can write letters to The Great Pumpkin, play mini golf, compete in the football-kicking contest, test their skills at the paper airplane factory, and show off their Halloween attire at the costume contest.
The drive to Pennsylvania from NoVA will take you about two-and-half hours. The train departs the Orbisonia Station at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. each day. Tickets are $30 to $35 for adults and $24 to $29 for children 12 and under. Each kid’s ticket includes one pumpkin from the patch. Strollers are allowed at the station, on the train, and at the pumpkin patch. Reservations are recommended. 421 Meadow St., Rockhill Furnace, Pennsylvania
