Parents and kids will love a weekend full of spaceships, raptors, and gardening.

As life starts to get busy again, the weekend is the perfect for getting in quality family time. From a virtual bird watching lesson to kayaking on the lake, your family will love spending time together with these fun activities.

Soar Together: Human Spaceflight

Friday & Saturday
This program is out of this world. Celebrate the anniversary of the space shuttle with an interactive lesson. Families will be able to participate in scavenger hunts, discussions, and other activities during the two-day event to see the leaps and bounds made in space exploration. // free

Raptors of the Potomac

Friday, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
The birds of prey are taking over the park. Bring the family over to learn about local avian predators. Everyone will be able to meet the raptors and watch a naturalist feed the birds. // Potomac Overlook Regional Park: 2845 N. Marcey Rd., Arlington; $7

Science & History of Gardening at Halisp Hall House

Saturday, 10 a.m.-noon
Sneak in a quick lesson over the weekend while learning about gardening. Kids will be able to plant veggies while they learn about the agricultural history of the county. Families will also conduct their own experience to learn about pollution and irrigation when it comes to the garden. // Brentsville Courthouse Historic Centre: 12229 Bristow Rd., Bristow; $5

Beginner Birding Club

Sunday, 9-10 a.m.
Spend the morning peeping the birds in your own backyard. Families can join a naturalist for a virtual lesson on different feathered friends. By the end of the program, you’ll be able to identify birds on sound and appearance, and use your bird journal for future encounters. //  free

Intro to Kayaking

Sunday, 10 a.m.
Make kayaking your new family fun experience. You and your family will learn about different kayaks, paddles, and safety gear in this introductory class. Once on the water, everyone will learn a variety of strokes and stopping maneuvers as they become expert kayakers. // Lake Fairfax Park: 1400 Lake Fairfax Dr., Reston; $42
