From a virtual painting class to a baking class, these events will add some enjoyment for the whole family this weekend.

After a long week of work and school, take a step back and focus on family time. From outdoor adventures to virtual arts and crafts, here are seven family-friendly events to enjoy this weekend.

Family Outdoor Exploration

Friday, 1 p.m.
Take the afternoon off and enjoy some quality family time outdoors. The choose-your-own adventure will give you options to explore stream life, pond life, historic ice cream and more. More details will be provided once registered. // Ellanor C. Lawrence Park: 5040 Walney Road, Chantilly; $40 per family

Art & Me Preservation Family Workshop | Put in Print

Saturday, 10-10:45 a.m.
Get crafty this weekend with the Smithsonian. Pull out your crayons and colored pencils for a morning of creating. From Chicanx graphics to Japanese prints, have your little ones learn about different cultures while showing their creative side. // free

Virtual Series: Raptor Roundup! Live Raptor Feeding

Saturday, noon-1 p.m.
Get an up close look at the park’s raptors during feeding time. Participants will learn about what separates birds of prey from other birds and what enrichment activities they use to keep the birds sharp. A Zoom link will be sent prior to the program. // Potomac Overlook Regional Park:  2845 N. Marcey Road, Arlington; $7 per family/group

Kiddo Horse | Virtual ZOOM Class

Saturday, 1-3 p.m.
Let your little ones have their own paint night with the help of Wine & Design. This virtual class will provide step-by-step instruction to create an adorable horse painting. All supplies are included with your ticket. // Wine & Design: 709 Caroline St., Fredericksburg; $30

Cakesicles and Cake Pops!!

Saturday, 2:30-4:30 p.m.
Pull your older kiddos away from their phones and into the kitchen. Students will learn how to create the latest trend, Cakesicles. Get all of the tips and tricks to create the delicious dessert along with making some sweet cake pops. All tools will be provided. // Fran’s Cake & Candy Supplies: 10927 Main St., Fairfax; $90

Astronomy for Family Fun – Planets

Saturday, 6:30 p.m.
Trade in your family movie night for a night under the stars. Guests will spend the night learning about and investigating the different planets and moons in the solar system. // Hidden Oaks Nature Center: 7701 Royce St., Annandale; $8 

Amazing Max Family Show

Sunday, 4 p.m.
The magic show is going virtual. Join Max for an afternoon of magic and learning. The magician will be teaching kids to perform a variety of tricks on the virtual stage. // $10-$15
