For some parents, the pride of watching their child walk across the stage to receive their college diploma may have evaporated now that their postgraduate sleeps till noon in their childhood room and may be procrastinating the job search process. That concerning trend was the basis for husband and wife Elise Hoffmann and Chris Niemczewski to write the book Get a F*ck!ng Job (with photos by Anton Papich and Jeff Prehn), providing overly-indulged adult children a reality check.
The creative team wants to provide a different kind of check now—the money kind. With the goal of getting millennials out from under their parents’ roof, Get a F*ck!ng Job is launching a social media contest for postgrads—or their frustrated parents—with the grand prize being a free month of rent, up to $1,500. Second place will be a gift basket valued up to $250.
To participate, contestants will have to create a witty and creative video that details the experience of living at home after college. If the postgrad is making the video, the creative team encourages them to show off their space and discuss why they’re living at home and how they drive their parents crazy; parents can also submit a video detailing the horrors of having their kid return to the nest. Video submissions should be no longer than a minute and posted to Facebook or Instagram tagging @getaneffingjob and including #getaneffingjobcontenst. Entrants must fill out a submission form before posting a video, which can be found on GetanEffingjob.com.
Submissions will be accepted now through June 26. Winners will be announced June 30.
Get a F*ck!ing Job is now available through online national and international retailers.
