The popular Virginia theme park Kings Dominion recently kicked off the 2017 season by unveiling three new rides in Planet Snoopy, the largest Peanuts-themed children’s area in the world.
The new rides for 2017 include:
Kite Eating Tree: Charlie Brown’s kite is stuck in a tree, and children ride up and gently bounce their way down in this ride.
Sally’s Sea Plane: Kids and their parents can ride together on this giant seaplane that rises and spins in the air.
PEANUTS-500: Children journey in race cars that zip around the turns on this closed track.
“We love to see little thrill-seekers smile and laugh while bouncing up and down on the Kite Eating Tree or taking a trip on the PEANUTS-500,” says Katelyn Sherwood, PR and communications manager for the park.
Besides these new attractions, Planet Snoopy boasts 17 more rides geared toward children, live entertainment featuring the Peanuts gang, beautiful landscaping with topiaries inspired by the cartoon, and of course, plenty of spots for photo opportunities.
Newly upgraded eating options in Planet Snoopy are also kid-friendly, including Chick-fil-A, Sweet Frog and Snoopy’s Shake Shack. There’s also a brand-new covered picnic area for special events and parties.
For those with very small ones, the newly renovated Family Care Center offers rooms for parents to feed babies, multiple diaper-changing stations and a refrigerator to store bottles and baby food. The facility offers air conditioning to cool off, too. Plus, the front room has a collection of preschool toys and kid-sized tables, giving kids a chance to decompress and relax.
Also new this year, Kings Dominion has instituted a pre-K pass that grants complimentary admission to kids ages 3-5 for the whole season. Passes must be redeemed by April 30, and proof of age is required.
