Huntley from Fredericksburg Gets 4-Chair Turn on The Voice

All of the judges loved the performance by the 33-year-old.

A Fredericksburg man, who goes by the stage name of Huntley, is moving on on The Voice. It took the show’s four judges just 20 seconds to turn their chairs for Michael Huntley, 33, as he sang She Talks to Angels by The Black Crowes Monday night.

“That’s a pretty voice,” said judge Gwen Stefani before she pushed the button to turn her chair. The judges during the auditions can only hear a singer before turning their chairs, an indication that they want to be the singer’s coach during the competition.

Once they swivel their chairs for a contestant, it’s then up to that contestant to choose a coach. The contestants then go on to the next stage of competition.

“Everything about your voice I absolutely loved,” said Reba McEntire, another judge, likening him to Chris Stapleton.

Judge Niall Horan, who played with the band One Direction before going solo, said Huntley had a “tone that comes naturally,” while John Legend, the fourth judge, told a humble Huntley: “Your voice has so much polish. Your voice sounds so ready.”

The singer-songwriter, who has been on American Idol three times, told the judges that when he was a kid he used to practice like he was Elvis.

“I had a dream my daughter came on stage,” Huntley told the judges. Six-year-old Stella then took the stage and described her dad’s performance: “He was really good.”

Dad and daughter then conferred, and Stella picked dad’s coach for the show.

“I’m going to pick Niall,” she said. Horan then came up on stage and hugged her.

Last season, Ashburn’s Mary Kate Connor was coached by Blake Shelton on the show.

The Voice on NBC airs on Mondays and Tuesdays.
