When you head to this year’s Halloween party or the kids come to your door, don’t be surprised if you see a lot of people dressed up as Weird Barbie from this year’s blockbuster movie, Barbie.
Weird Barbie is expected to be Virginia’s most popular pop-culture costume this year. The most popular traditional costume searched for in Virginia is a ghost, according to fashion experts Boohoo. Boohoo analyzed Google trends for each state to determine 2023’s most popular costumes.
Dressing as a ghost also is Maryland’s favorite traditional costume, while Wednesday Addams is Maryland’s pop-culture costume choice this year.
Weird Barbie topped the list in four states: Virginia, California, Massachusetts, and Missouri.
Overall, the skeleton remains the most popular traditional costume, with people in 14 states searching for skeleton costume ideas. Ghost and Wednesday Addams costumes come in second.
Coming in third in the pop culture searches nationwide is Princess Peach from Super Mario Bros.
Of course, vampires and zombies are still popular in the traditional costume category.
