The Author:
Tracey Livesay

The Book: Like Lovers Do: A Girls Trip Novel

The Genre:Romance

Lives In: Stafford

The Story: Released on Aug. 25, Like Lovers Do is Tracey Livesay’s second novel in her Girls Trip series. “The series revolves around four friends who met during their first year of college,” Livesay says. “The idea is that each woman will have her own story.” Like Lovers Do follows Nicole Allen, an accomplished surgeon, whose prestigious fellowship is in danger. “Her friend, Benjamin, is someone that she’s gotten to know really well for the past three years,” Livesay says. “He comes from a medical family dynasty; his name carries a lot of weight, so he asks his parents to put in a good word for Nicole. He’s going to be on Martha’s Vineyard for a week with a group of friends and one of his ex-girlfriends manages to get an invitation. To thank Benjamin for having his parents put in a good word for her, Nicole agrees to go to Martha’s Vineyard for the week, pretend to be his girlfriend and hope that will be enough to deter the ex-girlfriend from trying to get back in his life. If you read romance, you know after the end of the week, the two will realize they have feelings of more than just friendly for one another.”

NoVA Connections:“This series, it’s all Virginia,” Livesay says. “The women all meet at the University of Virginia, where I went, and the series is based on my real-life friendships. Like Lovers Do is set in Baltimore and Martha’s Vineyard, and the first in the series is set in a small town I wrote based off of Farmville, where I grew up, and Fredericksburg. The DMV is my playground and inspiration.”
