Arlington National Cemetery looking to expand
With expectations that it might run out of space for new grave sites in the next 25 years, Arlington National Cemetery has proposed a 70-acre expansion that would increase capacity by 40,000 to 60,000 internment spaces. The cemetery would expand south to the former Navy Annex site and would include the Air Force Memorial within the proposed area.
Plans being re-evaluated for Reston Town Center North
Following the rejection of a concept from MRP Realty and Norton Scott for a 47-acre parcel north of Reston Town Center—deemed too expensive—Fairfax County is heading back to the drawing board. There is no indication whether another request for proposals will be issued, but project coordinator Joan Beachum told the Washington Business Journal that is not out of the question.
New design for The View at Tysons includes SkyGarden
The View at Tysons plans to have more than just the title of tallest building in the region when it is finished. A new design from Clemente Development Co. has grown the mixed-use development’s footprint to 8.35 acres and a sleeker design for the 600-foot-tall “Iconic Tower,” with a 27,000-square-foot quasi-public atrium and rooftop garden.
Construction underway at Lexington 7
Construction began in September on Lexington 7, a 66,000-square-foot building located off Route 7 between One Loudoun and Ashburn Village Boulevard. The building will feature retail and entertainment spaces, including restaurants, a potential food hall, brewery, escape room and fitness centers. Developer First Atlantic Properties is projecting a late 2019 completion date.
