A new expo center at Dulles Town Center is set to open this weekend. The opening follows the previous Dulles Expo Center’s closure last year in Chantilly. That space is now an IKEA.
Dulles Town Center owner Srinivas Chavali said in an email that the closure “created a gap in the Northern Virginia exhibition market.”
The space that will now be the new DTC Expo and Events Center already existed as the former Lord & Taylor department store space. It “could be converted into an exhibition venue without starting from the ground up,” Chavali says.

The facility occupies 120,000 square feet, with 60,000 feet on each of the center’s two levels. The Heritage India Festival — planned for October 24 and 25 — will be the facility’s first event.
Chavali sees the new space as part of Dulles Town Center’s “transformation.”
“We are investing in a combination of retail, family entertainment, exhibitions, and eventually a broader mixed-use vision,” he says. “Each component should reinforce the others.”
Chavali says he is most looking forward to “seeing the community come together and the Expo Center come to life.”
