Northern Virginia is home to an assortment of popular coffee shops and cafes, including some without brick-and-mortar storefronts. One such cafe is the new Whisked Away Cafe, an Indian- and Korean-inspired pop-up coffee shop.
Whisked Away first opened this spring, and it’s been popping up at festivals and farmers markets around the region. It was started as a “passion project between friends (owners Lahari Bucchammolla, Emil Bissoondharry, and Ara Lee) with a simple shared hobby of creating fun drinks and pastries for loved ones has grown into a business,” Lee said.
For customers, that means that the menu is full of fusion foods and drinks. Some popular drinks include a sea salt Vietnamese iced coffee, a chai matcha, and a mango lassi matcha. Food items include treats like a brown butter cardamom carrot cake tres leches. Menu items rotate seasonally.
“While global recognition of meals such as butter chicken and bulgogi are celebrated today, we long to expand peoples’ tastebuds and increase exposure to our favorite flavors through not what is currently the next viral trend but by paying homage to the flavors we know and love,” Lee said.

It will be at the Vienna Optimist Farmers Market on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon through October 31, Clarendon Day on September 26, and the Loudoun Fall Festival on October 11.
