Alexandria families will soon have a new place to play, borrow, buy, and recycle toys. Del Play, a new toy lending library and indoor play space, is coming to Del Ray late this year, according to The Alexandria Brief.
Founded by Northern Virginia parents Brittany Perna and Costica Craciun, Del Play aims to offer a quiet alternative to the area’s high-energy indoor play spaces. The new space will combine Montessori-inspired indoor play with a toy library designed for children from infancy through elementary school.
Kids will be able to play in age-appropriate and themed areas including a rock wall and slide, Perna told The Alexandria Brief. The collection will primarily carry toys for kids under age 5, but toys for those up to age 10 will also be available. Families can drop in for open play without a reservation.
Families can also borrow toys to take home for up to two weeks, giving kids the chance to try out new toys before purchasing. Del Play will offer toy consignment and secondhand sales, along with recycling and donation options for broken or outgrown toys.
The play space will also host private events, including birthdays, playdates, and other milestones, in their dedicated party room. Parents can relax in the location’s lounge which will offer bottled coffee and tea, juice boxes, milk, and small snacks, Perna said.
Drop-in play is $12.50 for ages 2 and under and $14.50 for ages 3 and up. Members receive 15% off. A single-child toy rental membership is $45 per month.
