Tropical Drinks Are Flowing at a Tiki Pop-Up Bar in Alexandria

Stop into the Hi-Tide Lounge for cocktails, small bites, and beachy vibes.

Want a little slice of the tropics in Old Town Alexandria? The waterfront Hi-Tide Lounge at Vola’s Dockside Grill has just opened a new Tiki Pop-Up Bar. You’ll find island-inspired cocktails, food, and tiki-themed decor.

The pop-up launched on April 23 and will be available until August 31. The concept for the pop-up is “a temporary escape inspired by the spirit of the Polynesian islands, where time stretches and the outside world fades just enough to forget about it,” the bar’s website says.

On the menu, guests will find vacation-worthy sips. The Mai Tide is a rum blend with orgeat and pineapple and orange juices. There’s also the Temple of Tides, a frozen drink with rum, gin, cognac, sherry, lemongrass, and ginger.

For groups who want to share, there are two options for punch bowl cocktails that serve two to four guests. And non-drinkers can indulge in mocktails such as a zero-proof passion fruit mojito.

As for food, the pop-up offers a menu of island-inspired shareable dishes. The signature is the Pupu Platter, which includes pineapple barbecue ribs, huli huli chicken skewers, coconut shrimp, char siu pork egg roll, and sweet soy chicken wings. Other dishes on the menu include potstickers, rice noodles, and fish lettuce wraps.

The pop-up runs from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 3 p.m. to midnight on Fridays, noon to midnight on Saturdays; and noon to 11 p.m. on Sundays. No reservations are accepted.
