Five Guys is re-doing its offer for buy-one-get-one-free burgers. The “do-over” promotion will run through Thursday, March 12.
The Arlington-born, Alexandria-based burger chain launched its first BOGO burger deal on February 17 in honor of its 40th anniversary.
But Five Guys wasn’t prepared for customer demand, which resulted in long lines and stores running out of stock. “You visited our restaurants in overwhelming numbers, and we weren’t ready for you,” the company said in a news release. “We didn’t meet our own standards, and that’s not something we take lightly. So, we’re asking for a do-over.”
The new iteration of the deal is called the 40th After Party. Customers can order online or through the Five Guys app with code FGAFTERPARTY.
“We were genuinely humbled by your response,” Five Guys founder Jerry Murrell said. “Forty years is a long time, and the outpouring of support for our 40th birthday reminded us why we love what we do.”
The release said stores have been replenishing their products and “making the preparations we should have made the first time around.”
The brand also acknowledged that the store crews were “put in an incredibly difficult position” on February 17. As a result, Five Guys will give about $1.5 million in bonuses to employees across the system.
