Field of Screams Maryland Will Close for the 2025 Season

The popular destination is working on a full renovation.

Field of Screams Maryland, one of the DMV area’s most terrifying haunted trails, has announced that it will not open for the 2025 Halloween season. Instead, it will be undergoing a full renovation of the trail and plans to reopen in 2026.

The spooky destination posted a notice on its website that it would be undergoing “a massive, long-awaited transformation of our entire trail and infrastructure.”

“When we return in 2026, we will be unveiling the most extraordinary, immersive, and terrifying haunt experience you have ever seen. We are talking about a full reimagining of scares, scenes, and surprises — taking every part of Field of Screams Maryland to a whole new level,” the post said.

Field of Screams Maryland has been in operation for 23 years, drawing adrenaline junkies and Halloween lovers for its top-ranked scaring experience. The attraction included an hour-long trail walk with more than 50 scary scenes, plus a haunted house and carnival games.

The attraction is a fundraiser for the Olney Boy’s and Girl’s Club. The money raised helps to ensure that kids have access to safe activities like sports.

“For 23 years, Field of Screams Maryland has thrived thanks to our incredible staff and scare actors, our valued community partners — especially the Olney Boys & Girls Club — and, most importantly, our loyal fans who have helped make us the nation’s top haunt,” said John Dixon, director of operations at Field of Screams. “Now, we’re granting our creative team a long sought after request to pause the event for a season so they can lay the foundation and build a haunt experience that’s second to none. Field of Screams Maryland 2026 will include the most cutting-edge scares and unforgettable frights for years to come.”
