Wine lovers will get the chance to try wines made with Virginia’s native grape at the Norton Showcase at Piedmont Meadows in Triangle on June 7.
At least a dozen wineries will take part in the family-friendly event that kicks off the second annual Norton Wine Tour, including Piedmont Meadows, Chrysalis Vineyards, Rappahannock Cellars, Little River Vineyard, Casanel Vineyards & Winery, Chateau MerrillAnne, DuCard Vineyards, Nokesville Winery, Barrel Oak Winery & Brewery, 53rd Winery & Vineyard, Winery at Bull Run, and Paradise Springs Winery.
The outdoor event, which runs 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., will offer the chance to chat with winemakers and listen to panel discussions about the Norton grape, including its history and characteristics. It will feature live music from local musicians, handcrafted goods from artisans, and a bite to eat from food trucks. Tickets are $25 per person, and each winery will also be selling wines by the bottle and glass. Pets are not allowed.
The event is run by the Norton Network, a group of Virginia wineries that aims to highlight the varietal.
