Are you looking for a way to get in some steps while learning some local history? Then a NoVA scavenger hunt might just be up your alley.

Let’s Roam Scavenger Hunt Tours offers several options around Northern Virginia. Once you purchase a ticket, you will download an app that gives you the starting location on the route. Along the way, you and your team will get points for taking photos and videos as you solve riddles, answer trivia questions, and learn interesting facts about the area.

Scavenger hunts are available in several area locations, including Arlington, Reston, Herndon, Centreville, Fair Oaks, and Alexandria. The activities are family-friendly; most hunts cover around 1.5 miles of walking and are planned to last around 1.5 hours.

Here are some examples:

Centreville Scavenger Hunt

Walk the downtown Centreville area and explore places like the Mount Gilead historic site and learn the history of quaint old homes like the Spindle Sears House and Harrison House.

Mount Vernon Scavenger Hunt

This hunt takes you through a Mount Vernon neighborhood to learn the secrets of George Washington‘s landscape designs. You will discover a fruit garden and nursery that date back centuries, and you may even spot some Civil War graffiti near Washington‘s tomb.

Reston Scavenger Hunt

Discover fascinating facts behind structures like the Reston Regional Library as well as several public art installations, such as Nokomis by Danny Lane and the Reston Rondo sculpture by Mary Ann Mears.
