Catch Some Rays with These Outdoor Fitness Classes in NoVA

Skip the gym and get your daily workout in the great outdoors instead.

What better time than spring and summer to get out in the sunshine and take advantage of the numerous outdoor fitness classes offered throughout Northern Virginia? From walking to Zumba to goat yoga, there is truly something for everyone.

Goat Yoga at Botanologica

May 10, 9–10 a.m.

Taking place Saturday, May 10, in the parking lot of Botanologica, combine your love for animals with your passion for fitness with goat yoga from 9 to 10 a.m. During this fun, interactive class, several baby goats will roam around while you enjoy a yoga session led by a certified yoga instructor. And don’t miss your chance to fuel up before or after class with the Twelve Twenty Coffee truck, which will be located out front. 817 W. Broad St., Falls Church, $55

Yoga & Walking at Lake Accotink

June 15, July 20, August 17, 8–8:55 a.m.

Combine nature’s peaceful soundtrack with a good workout to combat stress and rejuvenate the soul at Yoga & Walking at Lake Accotink Park. The Sunday classes are held June 15, July 20, and August 17 for ages 13 and older. Bring a water bottle and be prepared to walk on varying types of terrain. 7500 Accotink Park Rd., Springfield, $13

Fitness on the Plaza at One Loudoun

Thursdays through September 25 7–8 p.m., select Saturdays 9–10 a.m.

Now through September 25, you can catch outdoor Zumba fitness classes every Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. on the plaza in One Loudoun. Saturday yoga classes will also be offered June 7, August 2, and September 6. Attendance for both classes are free and open to the public. 20365 Exchange St., Ashburn, free

Fitness on the Plaza at Fairfax Corner

Wednesdays through August 27, 6 p.m.

On Wednesday evenings through August 27, you can also find free workout classes on the plaza in Fairfax Corner starting at 6 p.m. The classes, alternating each week, include Corepower Yoga, F45 training, and PR Run & Walk. After class, those who joined the workout can enjoy a “No Shower Happy Hour” with food and drink specials for class participants at Crafthouse. 4100 Monument Corner Dr., Fairfax

Fit at the Fountain

Mondays June–July, 6–7 p.m.

Throughout June and July, join DC Fray and National Landing on Mondays from 6 to 7 p.m. for free, instructor-led outdoor fitness classes including barre, yoga, Pilates, and more. Classes are located at Water Park and open to the public. Spots are limited, so be sure to reserve your spot. 1601 Crystal Dr., Arlington, free

Body by Ginny

Dates vary

Ginny Wright and her team of instructors have led group workout classes in the Arlington and McLean area since 2003. Each class, held outdoors at local parks and schools, provides a full body workout utilizing free weights, cardio drills, abdominal exercises, and stretching. Various locations in Arlington and McLean, $25 per class or $150 per month for unlimited classes
