Stardust Vintage & Gift Is Opening Soon in Alexandria

The new shop from the co-founder of the Del Ray Vintage & Flea Market is set to open in mid-May.

A new store for vintage lovers is opening soon in Del Ray. Amy Eggers, co-founder and director of the Del Ray Vintage & Flea Market, announced that she will be opening Stardust Vintage & Gift. The shop will be located at 1904 Mt. Vernon Ave., just next door to the popular flea market. The tentative opening date is May 10.

The new shop will occupy the space that was formerly the antique store La Brocante, which will move next door to 1906 Mt. Vernon Avenue (previously the boutique Top It Off).

Eggers said in an email that she acquired La Brocante’s inventory, and the store’s merchandise will evolve over the coming weeks. While La Brocante had a “French provincial” style, Eggers describes her own style as “mid-mod,” with vintage items from the 1950s to the 1990s (plus some 2000s nostalgia).

Shoppers can expect to find vintage home décor and gifts, plus some new items with vintage-inspired styles.

“My store will be a great place for one-of-a-kind birthday gifts, hostess gifts, custom gift baskets, and new items made with vintage materials,” Eggers said. One example is a line of speakers made from old luggage and train cases, from Baltimore-based Boombox Baggage.

Stardust will also host regular events such as craft classes, workshops on appraisals and vintage clothing, trunk shows, and special shopping events like “Caftans and Cocktails.”

Del Ray Vintage & Flea Market, now in its sixth year, will continue to run every second Saturday of the month. The main market is at 1804 and 1900 Mt. Vernon Ave. Stardust, right next door, will serve as the “official store and info center” for the market.

There is also a second market location at 202 E. Custis Ave., outside Magpie Reclamations Vintage Furniture. The next market day is May 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
