Dusan Dimic of Reston will do time in federal prison for his role in a drug trafficking operation. Dimic, 41, and a co-conspirator from Arlington used Zipcars, rental cars, and private vehicles to deliver cocaine in Washington, DC.
Dimic pleaded guilty in November to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 5 kilograms or more of cocaine. On February 28, he received a sentence of 41 months in prison and three years of supervised release.
The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Metropolitan Police Department began investigating the “narcotics delivery service,” which operated primarily in Northwest DC.
According to a news release, undercover agents purchased illegal narcotics from Dimic’s co-conspirator 14 times. During these transactions, Dimic acted as the driver or arranged for a driver. Dimic’s name and credit card were on file with Zipcar for the vehicles.
Dimic’s accomplice was previously identified as a 54-year-old man from Arlington but was not named in this week’s news release.
“During the undercover controlled purchases, Dimic frequently sat in the driver’s seat, the co-conspirator always sat in the front passenger’s seat, and the undercover agent (as the customer) sat in the rear passenger’s seat. The drug transactions took place immediately next to Dimic while he remained in the driver’s seat,” the news release said.
Dimic and his co-defendant sold an average of 56 grams of cocaine per day from August 2022 to August 2023.
In September 2023, law enforcement arrested Dimic and his accomplice. They recovered 90 grams of cocaine, a bag with his ID and cell phone, and $2,304.51 in cash from Dimic. From the accomplice, they recovered $4,454.74 in cash, 483 grams of cocaine, and 90 grams of methamphetamine pills.
