Chilly autumn weather means it’s the perfect time to curl up with a good book — a cozy mystery book, to be more specific. This quirky subgenre takes all the key elements of a murder mystery (a shocking crime, a trail of clues, and a detective or amateur sleuth who works to piece it together) but it tones down the grisly, uncomfortable details that often come with crime novels. These books are sweet, funny, and just plain cozy.
If you can’t get enough of cozy mysteries, or if you’re looking for a place to start, check out these four literary events dedicated to the genre.
