The Bacon Brothers to Perform in Reston

The four-day Washington West Film Festival will include a performance by Kevin and Michael Bacon, along with over 10 screening events.

An upcoming film festival in Reston and Tysons just added some major star power. The Washington West Film Festival announced The Bacon Brothers will perform during the four-day festival.

The Bacon Brothers concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. on October 12 at the Reston Town Center Pavilion as part of the Washington West Film Festival celebrations. The band, which consists of brothers Kevin and Michael Bacon, released its 12th album, Ballad Of The Brothers, earlier this year. The actor and composer play a blend of rock, folk, soul, and country music.

The annual film festival will be held from October 10 to 13 at the Reston and Tysons locations of LOOK Dine-In Cinemas.

The four-day festival features over 10 screening events. It will have screenings of Searching for Amani, Climbing Into Life, Champions of the Golden Valley, and Footloose, which includes a virtual Q&A with the lead actor following the screening. A variety of short films, environmental shorts, and a student showcase of the best flicks from George Mason students and alumni will be shown.

In addition to the film showings, the festival partnered with Kevin Bacon’s charity, SixDegrees.org, and Virginia Kids Belong to host a kit-building session from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 13 at the Reston theater. Volunteers will put together kits full of necessities and comfort items for children in the Virginia foster care system.

“Kevin Bacon embodies the intersection of philanthropy and film that is at the heart of this festival, and it’s an honor to partner with his charity, SixDegrees.Org, to help foster children right in our backyard,” said Brad Russell, founder of the Washington West Film Festival in a news release.

“Adding this Bacon Brothers performance will be a unique attraction for attendees, and we’re grateful to feature this band alongside so many other talented artists, filmmakers, directors, and more — right here in our local community.”

Tickets for the film screenings range from $20 to $40 per ticket. All box office proceeds from the Washington West Film Festival will be donated to Virginia’s Kids Belong to help at-risk families and foster children. Additional donations are also accepted.
