If Christmas lights don’t fill your heart with holiday cheer, you might be turning into a Grinch. But by the looks of these houses, it seems like there are plenty of holiday cheermeisters sprinkled throughout the region. We’ve rounded up just a few of the amazing home displays that can be around Northern Virginia.
Hunt’s Holiday House
It’s lights galore at this Herndon home. Not only will you find lights scattered throughout the yard, but you’ll also see inflatables, wire displays, Minnie and Mickey Mouse, and plenty of candy canes. Make sure you don’t miss the details hiding in the second-floor windows either. The home also puts up bright Halloween and Thanksgiving displays. 13204 Stone Heather Dr., Herndon
Farmer’s Christmas House
The former champion of ABC’s The Great Christmas Light Fight has to be the biggest home display in the region. It features over 250,000 lights and 300 blow molds, so no matter how many times you visit you’ll always be able to pick out new details. Ritter Family Christmas
The Ritter family puts on a show featuring dancing lights. Every night from 5–9:30, you can catch the performance. Tune your radio station to 105.7 to listen to carols and watch the show from your toasty car. Food donations will also be collected for the Western Fairfax Christian Ministries food pantry. Marshall Pond Christmas Village
Putting up Christmas lights is something the whole community gets into on Marshall Pond Rd. Each of the seven houses on the street put up an over-the-top display that is sure to put you in the holiday spirit. During your walk, you’ll find countless gnomes, snowmen, reindeer, and even a few Star Wars characters. Marshall Pond Rd., Burke
602 Birch St. SW, Vienna
Now this is something you probably haven’t seen before. The Paradise family has skipped the traditional lights and trees to create a one-of-a-kind Christmas projection show. Festive scenes are displayed right on their front house to create a magical winter wonderland display.
7302 Rhondda Dr., Lorton
This might be a townhouse, but this home packs a punch with its light display. Every inch of this yard is full of lights and so is the front exterior, from trees to snowflakes to your favorite Christmas movie characters. Stop by on the weekend to take a picture with the life-size Bumble, Grinch, and the Tasmanian Devil.
417 Gatepost Ct., Purcellville
Gru must be out of town because the minions have taken over this lawn. Dozens of these goofy minions are dressed in elf costumes and Santa hats — with some looking to get into a little Christmas mischief.
7435 Pensacola Pl., Gainesville
From the lighted arches across to the sidewalks to the “snow storms” that come through every weekend, it’s definitely a display the kids (and kids at heart) will love. The front and backyard of this home is covered in lights. The display also features music, a photo cutout board of Santa and an elf for pictures, and your favorites from The Grinch.
42580 Blue Copper Way, Ashburn
Anything can be a Christmas decoration in this yard. Instead of the usual trees and Santa Claus figures, scan the yard to find a dinosaur climbing the Eiffel Tower, multiple barnyard animals, and a mermaid with all of her friends from under the sea.
Oakton Park Ct., Vienna
It’s another cul-de-sac community getting together to spread Christmas cheer. The trees are covered with strands of lights and ornaments, and yards are filled with snowmen and nutcrackers. You might even see Santa Claus on one of the roofs. Donations through the Venmo account @OaktonParkLights will be given to One Neighborhood Foundation and Rustic Love Vienna.
