Fairfax County K-9 Helps Find Nearly $39K in Stolen Macy’s Merchandise

The police said a window at the Tysons Corner Center store had been broken and that the suspected thief pushed the merchandise from the scene in a cart.

Fairfax County police recovered more that $38,787 in goods stolen from the Tysons Corner Center Macy’s and arrested a Bealeton man early Tuesday with the help of a police dog.

Officers at 2:13 a.m. were responding to a burglar alarm at the Macy’s department store at 8000 Tysons Corner Center. The police said a witness called police after seeing Cedric Murrel Milton, 47, pushing the cart of merchandise from the scene.

The suspected thief had broken a store window to get in and had packed merchandise in black trash bags.

A K-9 and an officer started tracking the area and found the bags with $38,787 worth of clothing and accessories in a wooded area.

They then found Milton and took him into custody. The police said Milton had outstanding warrants in three Virginia counties — Fairfax, Prince William, and Henrico.

He has been charged with two counts of grand larceny, two counts of larceny with intent to sell, two counts of possession of Schedule I or II drugs, giving false identification to police, burglary, credit card theft, destruction of property, and possession of burglarious tools.
