Where to Order Thanksgiving Pies

For those with limited baking skills, you may have somebody else make your holiday dessert.

By Cyna Mirzai November 13, 2023 at 2:41 pm

Preparing a Thanksgiving meal certainly renders its fair share of strain and stress, but it’s not the making of dishes like mashed potatoes or green beans that require advanced cooking skills. The baking of Thanksgiving pies for dessert, however, can be a different story.

For those not gifted with baking skills, here are some bakeries where you can find holiday pies. To ensure you will have pies for dessert, you will want to order ahead of time.

Amphora Bakery

The last day to order your Thanksgiving pies is Friday, November 17. The bakery has a variety of flavors like chocolate chip pecan, pumpkin cream latte, and peach blackberry. 294 Sunset Park Dr., Herndon

Buzz Bakeshop

Thanksgiving pies at this Alexandria-based bakeshop will only be available for carryout. Orders. The bakery will be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 21 and Wednesday, November 22. You need to place your carryout orders by this weekend. The bakeshop carries four iconic choices: pumpkin, Dutch apple, pecan, and French silk pie. 901 Slaters Ln., Alexandria

Livin’ the Pie Life

This beloved bakery knows people go flocking for its pies. The bakery’s pre-order period for Thanksgiving is over. However, you can still buy 10-inch specialty pies through November 18 and freeze them. Many of its pies can be frozen for up to two months. The shop will be closed Sunday, November 19 and Monday, November 20. The next chance to get a pie will be the bakery’s annual last-minute sale from 3 to 5 p.m. November 22. 2166 N. Glebe Rd., Arlington

Mom’s Apple Pie Company

As you make your way into downtown Leesburg, chances are you’ll pass by a snug, brick building where sweet smells waft so long in the air, you might even smell it from your car. Mom’s Apple Pie Company is a staple NoVA spot for any of your baked good needs, but it’s the wide selection of pies that has made it popular. Mom’s has all the classics, like apple, blueberry, and pecan. If you want more festive-themed choices for the holiday, you can grab the pumpkin, sweet potato, or cran-apple crumb. Mom’s Thanksgiving hours will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, November 20 through Wednesday, November 22. Mom’s will be open Thanksgiving, starting at 8 a.m. but the bakers have the day off. 220 Loudoun St. SE, Leesburg

The Golden Plum

If you’re a fan of Mom’s but can’t make the trek to Leesburg, The Golden Plum is here to save the day. Founded by Ansa Cox, daughter of Mom’s Apple Pie Company founders, this pie shop offers fruit-based staples like the sweet-tart strawberry rhubarb pie, as well as seasonal picks like blackberry and raspberry. 126A Commerce St., Occoquan
