NoVA Dogs of the Month: 5 Friendly Pups to Adopt

Any of these social and playful dogs would be a great addition to your family.

Dogs can bring great joy to your life. Here are five available dogs to adopt from Northern Virginia animal rescue organizations.

Meet Jemma

Loudoun County Animal Services, where the tall, lanky Jemma is currently available for adoption, described her as “100 percent dog, zero percent miniature horse.” Jemma loves northing more than flopping at a human’s feet for belly rubs. She knows sit, paw, and down, and is happy to learn more commands (for a treat of course). Jemma enjoys chasing cats, but understands it is not a nice hobby, which is why she is currently looking for new, less naughty things to do. Jemma also loves playing with other dogs and is social and playful.

Meet Caesar

Caesar is a playful lover of squeaky toys and conquests involving squirrels. He enjoys sunbathing in the yard, walks, and does well when seeing other dogs and people. He is house-trained and calm, enjoying curling up on the couch for an evening of TV. He sleeps peacefully through the night after enjoying some peanut butter and belly rubs. Caesar is available through the Animal Welfare League of Arlington.

Meet Ross and Joey

Little Ross and Joey (they’re almost four months old) had a hard start to their lives. They were born outdoors to a mother Cattle Dog in the freezing cold. They had their tails amputated with a rubber band with the goal of being sold. Luckily, they were rescued by a kind neighbor after almost being given away at a local Walmart. Then they found themselves at Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. Their siblings have been adopted but Ross and Joey are anxiously awaiting a new home. They can be adopted separately and would love active households who appreciate Cattle Dogs and their quirky traits. Ross and Joey are available at Homeward Trails Animal Rescue.

Meet Adrian

Adrian is a smart, handsome, and endearing little pup. His floppy ears are his cutest attribute, and his powerful nose can sniff out a hot dog within three miles. This treeing walker coonhound is loyal and eager to bring his future forever family lots of joy and entertainment. He is friendly, loves the outdoors, and has just a hint of silliness. Adrian is available at Lost Dog and Cat Rescue.
