The Houses with the Best Over-The-Top Christmas Displays in Northern Virginia

As you drive around NoVA, you’ll be amazed by the magical displays in these local neighborhoods.

Updated December 9, 2022. It’s the most magical time of the year when the Christmas lights start lighting up NoVA’s neighborhoods. From colorful trees and light tunnels to light shows and eccentric inflatables, you’ll feel nothing but Christmas cheer as you drive by these houses.

8 Daniel Keys Ln., Lovettsville

With inflatables, pop culture displays (I personally love the Buddy the Elf appearance), gingerbread house, and more, the whole family will find a display that makes their smile extra bright.

2507 Fairview Dr., Alexandria

Former competitors on The Great Christmas Light Fight, this home holds nothing back. From the ground to the roof, the entire property is covered with lights, blow molds, inflatables, and much more. With so many sections, you’ll want to park the car and take a walk through the yard to catch all of the little details.

1610 N. Abingdon St., Arlington

Lights aren’t the only thing bringing light lovers to this Arlington home. From Santa and his reindeer flying off the roof to the Grinch making an appearance on his green moped, the out-of-the-box displays in this yard are definitely something you won’t find anywhere else in NoVA.

Captain’s Row in Alexandria

The neighborhood that goes all out for Halloween also does Christmas decorations. From lit-holiday birdhouses to a whimsical Barbie nutcracker display, you never know what holiday creations you’ll find on the historic street. 100 Prince St., Alexandria

417 Gatepost Ct., Purcellville

Those loveable minions have taken over this home for the holiday season. The inflatable banana-crazed creatures are dressed to the nines with Santa suits, hats, and candy canes, ready to welcome the big man and his reindeer.

3912 Lincolnshire St., Annandale

There is no way you’ll be able to drive past this home without being amazed. With no blades of grass or branch left unlit, this yard is a Christmas masterpiece. As you drive by, make sure to tune your radio to 88.1 FM to listen to the accompanying show.
