This week, the Northern Virginia Magazine editorial team is looking forward to eating like an Egyptian, catching a classic musical, sitting by the fireplace, and stocking up on cooking supplies.

Bowing Down
“After a week of vacation, I’m right back on my busy eating schedule. But that doesn’t mean that I won’t try to make time to return to King of Koshary. My last visit to the Arlington Egyptian restaurant wowed me with huge flavors and excellent service. And the portions? I was eating for days. Who needs grocery shopping when you have a new favorite hole-in-the-wall?” –Alice Levitt, food editor/critic

Behind on Rent
“Alice Q&A-ed Matthew Gardiner, the new director of the Arlington-based, Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre, for our November issue. It looks like the theater is in good hands: Rent seems like a good choice for a theater that needs a win.” –James Finley, senior editor

Staying Warm
“For the past two months, I’ve been planning on supporting my alma mater, Maryland, as they take on the University of Michigan on the football field. Being in a family full of Michigan fans, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a win, but the realist in me knows that the chances are slim. But no matter what time I end up leaving, I’m definitely heading over to one of these restaurants to defrost by fireplaces and warm up with a tasty meal.” –Michele Kettner, associate digital & research editor

Kitchen Confidential
“I’m looking forward to being a homebody, going out only to stock up on baking supplies (like these stylish ones). With the holidays looming, I’m already in the spirit to roll out sugar cookies and frost cakes.” –Kelly Kendall, editor
