The NoVA Restaurants with Lovely Fireplaces to Warm Up By

Grab a drink and cozy up by the fireplace because these restaurants are heating up all winter long.

Updated January 2, 2023. It’s that time of year again in Northern Virginia. Darkness comes much sooner, the air is crisp, and evenings get especially chilly. What better time than now to find a relaxing atmosphere with a fireplace to warm up at? And if they serve delicious food and crafty cocktails, even better!

Here are some places in NoVA with fireplaces to enjoy some coziness against the cold.

Magnolia’s on King

Magnolia’s on King is a restaurant and lounge smack dab in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, which, in addition to cocktails, specializes in Southern comfort food, such as country fried chicken and shrimp and grits. And if you’re not instantly sold by that, the ambience of the place is just as alluring. Located in a 200-year-old building, Magnolia’s on King provides three floors of dining options, including their Palm Lounge with a fireplace. Swing by Magnolia’s on King for a round of their signature drink: an old fashioned with pineapple syrup. 703 King St., Alexandria

Red Fox Inn and Tavern

The Red Fox Inn and Tavern is the perfect spot if you’re searching for a classy dining experience for date night. A staple in Middleburg village, Red Fox Inn and Tavern is located in a historic building from the 1700s. The setting alone is bound to set the mood for a romantic and cozy night out.

But let’s not forget about the food. Red Fox Inn and Tavern offers a four-course dining menu with optional Virginia and Old World wine pairings. Or simply try one of their special “foxtails,” crafted with house-made syrups and locally sourced ingredients. 2 E. Washington St., Middleburg

Sonoma Cellar

Maybe you want something a bit more on the casual side? Sonoma Cellar may be just the place for you. Grab a group of friends and gather around one of the outdoor firepits for a fun, winter vibe. Sonoma Cellar has weekly specials such as Taco Tuesday offering six varieties of tacos for $4 and Wine Down Wednesday where select wine bottles are 30 percent off. And don’t forget to try some of the delicious sharable small plates while you’re there. From the hot cheesy artichoke dip with crisps to the Asian lettuce wraps, you really can’t go wrong! 207 King St., Alexandria

Clyde’s Willow Creek Farm

Clyde’s Willow Creek Farm is a unique destination restaurant and bar located on a working farm in Loudoun County that prides itself on using locally raised, farm-grown vegetables and fruits, as well as hormone-free, grass-fed beef. And with a menu offering various cuts of steak, jumbo lump crab cakes, and a multitude of burger and sandwich options, this certainly isn’t a place you want to skip a meal at. 42920 Broadlands Blvd., Broadlands

KO Distilling

Whiskey can do wonders at warming you up. And what better place to grab a whiskey-centered cocktail than a craft distillery who specializes in just that (and gin)? KO Distilling also boasts a cozy fireplace area complete with leather sofas. With drinks ranging from Bare Knuckle Whiskey spiced cider to a Moonshine margarita, there’s plenty of options to warm you up! 10381 Central Park Dr., Ste. 105, Manassas
