A Shining Engagement
I missed Bright Star when it was on Broadway, but love grooving to the bluegrass soundtrack while listening to the Sirius “On Broadway” channel. Don’t know it? The 2016 musical is a collaboration between Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, so even music fans who don’t usually go for show tunes should take note of the production now playing at the Riverside Center for the Performing Arts in Fredericksburg. –Alice Levitt, food editor/critic

After almost two years of waiting, I’m finally catching a live concert! Since COVID shut everything down, I’ve been watching endless concert movies and streamed performances, and even been throwing my own one-woman shows in my car on the way home. But that all ends this Sunday, when my friend and I head to Bristow to catch the Jonas Brothers’ Remember This Tour. I’ve been eagerly waiting since I snagged the tickets in May, and my excitement truly can’t be contained! –Michele Kettner, associate digital & research editor
Pet Project
Would it be weird if I showed up at the McLean Pet Fest on Sunday, even though I don’t have a dog at the moment? It’s probably aimed at pooches and their owners, but watching pups frolic together is my idea of a good time. And I do have a cat–even though she’d claw my eyes out if I tried to actually bring her, I might find some cute merch for her. –Kelly Kendall, editor
Poe-sers
The Synetic Theater crew is back in an actual theater with an interpretation of former DMV-resident Edgar Allan Poe’s greatest works, just in time for the spooky season. An earlier iteration, focused on “The Fall of the House of Usher,” got great reviews, so I’m looking forward to seeing how the addition of “The Raven” steps things up. –James Finley, senior editor
