Roughing It
From Vermont to Xinjiang, I’ve known a number of people who have lived in yurts. I’ve never ventured inside one for more than a meal, so I’m curious what it’s like to spend the night in one. That’s why I’m gathering all my outdoorsy derring-do to visit the ones in Spotsylvania at Lake Anna State Park. I’ll reward myself with a great steak in Fredericksburg. –Alice Levitt, food editor/critic
It’s Fall Y’all
While I’m still trying to understand how September flew by so fast, it’s time to get started on my fall bucket list. Since the pumpkin patch was a success, it’s time to move on to the next thing and I’ve got festivals on the brain. My country roots are definitely pulling me towards Braehead’s weekend celebration. –Michele Kettner, associate digital & research editor
Raking the Coals
We were already excited RAKO Coffee had opened in Clarendon, so the fact that our writer recommends their Baklava Latte as the perfect drink for fall makes it a must-visit as the mornings cool. –James Finley, senior editor
A Buzzy Read
I just finished reading my last book and need a new one, and have heard great things about The Hive, a family drama (I think) from nearby author Melissa Scholes Young. –Kelly Kendall, editor
