Meating Up
It’s time to take a break from dining out with a family barbecue. This is really just an excuse to visit a new meat source, Oliver’s Corner Butcher Shop in Great Falls. It’s among some of the best butcheries in our region, thanks to its dry-ager filled with local cuts, but I especially can’t wait to throw some of their quirky sausages, in flavors like banh mi and Philly-pork-and-provolone, to hiss on the grill.  –Alice Levitt, food editor/critic

Splish Splash
Summer would probably be my favorite season if it wasn’t for the humidity that overtakes the region every year. And, with the dog days of summer ahead of us, I really need to find a way to cool off without being connected to the air conditioner all season. So, since I don’t have a pool, water sports are my go to bet for having a fun time outside without being dragged down by the NoVA humidity. –Michele Kettner, associate digital & research editor

Park It
I tend to have a hard time mentally slowing down enough to enjoy a leisurely walk in the park–I get bored quickly. But Meadowlark Botanical Gardens looks so insanely gorgeous, I may be changing my ways. I’d love to take a stroll there at sunset this week. –Kelly Kendall, editor
