Iconic DC luxury hotel The Jefferson reopens

After the pandemic shuttered the property for a year-and-a-half, the five-star hotel brings back luxe accommodations and upscale dining.

If you are looking for a patriotic-inspired stay timed during the month that we celebrate our nation’s independence, you’re in luck. After closing for a year due to COVID-19, The Jefferson, a boutique hotel just a few blocks from the White House, finally reopened its doors on July 3.

This relaunch brings back the chance to stay in one of its 99 rooms or 23 suites, the latter of which are among the grandest in the city–private, sumptuous, and tucked away from D.C.’s busy streets.

“We are thrilled to reopen and welcome guests back to The Jefferson, Washington DC, just in time to celebrate the July 4th holiday weekend, and we couldn’t be more excited to be part of our wonderful and dynamic city coming back to life,” said general manager David Bueno.

New this season is a Summer Evenings package, which includes a complimentary one-category room upgrade, a late check-out of 2 p.m., and two summer libations at Quill. No matter what they book, guests can expect a completely personalized experience during a stay at The Jefferson, with a private concierge, butler, and curated room service. Plume and the Petit Spa remain closed for the time being, however.

Fido can get a taste of luxury too, as The Jefferson is also a dog-friendly hotel; all breeds up to 50 pounds are welcome, and can expect amenities like dog bowls and beds, filtered water, dog treats, and walking maps and dog-sitting services.

The hotel offers two food and beverage options. Grab a stool or a table in the cozy Quill Bar and Lounge for a craft cocktail, dinner or light bites, or head to The Greenhouse, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with Michelin-starred menus designed by chef Ralf Schlegel that celebrate seasonal and local ingredients. In either spot, you can also sip history via a glass or flight of an extensive, impressive Madeira collection dating back to the 18th century, a beverage that was a favorite of Thomas Jefferson.

“The tables are set, the Champagne is chilled, and the beds are made; we are ready to get back to what we do best: providing a home away from home for all of our guests,” Bueno said. “As we welcome guests back, we want travelers to explore the best of DC and enjoy the luxuries of The Jefferson.”
