6 fitness activities to join on Mother’s Day weekend

Let Mom tag along for kayaking, yoga, and a 5K during her special weekend.

This weekend marks Mother’s Day, so if you’re still looking for something out of the box, consider a fun fitness activity. Whether you want to take mom to a celebratory yoga class or kayak in Burke Lake, these are the six activities you should join this weekend.

Twilight by Kayak

Friday, 6-8 p.m.
Once you clock out for the weekend, make your way to the water. Paddle out onto the lake to watch the sun set and the wildlife settle for the night. You might even get a gorgeous view of the moon on your way back to land. // Burke Lake Park: 7315 Ox Rd., Fairfax Station; $22

Yoga at the Market! One Loudoun

Saturday, 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Before you run your weekend errands, stretch it out at One Loudoun. Bring along your mat, block, and any other accessories to get in your best poses at the outdoor yoga class near Route 7. // One Loudoun: 20626 Easthampton Plz., Ashburn; $10

Mother’s Day Vanish Brewery Pop-Up Class

Saturday, 10 a.m.
Start off your Mother’s day celebration at the brewery. Enjoy a free pop-up barre class to burn off calories and stress. After class, enjoy special brews and wines for the occasion. // Vanish: 42245 Black Hops Ln., Leesburg; free 

Run For Beer

Saturday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Combine weekend drinks with a run at the Virginia Brewery Running Series. The 5k course weaves you through Clarendon, starting and ending at the Arlington brewery. Plus, when you sign up for the race, you’ll receive a free craft brew, collector’s pint glass, giveaways, and more. // The Board Room VA: 925 N. Garfield St., Arlington; $30-$100

Mother’s Day 5K Race – Brickyard Race Series

Sunday, 7-10 a.m.
If Mom is looking to start her day with a run, this race is for you and the family. Rise and shine for the third annual run/walk to celebrate all of the wonderful moms on their special day. The family-friendly and dog-friendly race will also award runners with a finisher medal. // Occoquan Regional Park: 9751 Ox Rd., Lorton; 18-$30

Mothers Rock! Power Yoga Flow

Sunday, 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Get in your vinyasas with a special outdoor session. Limited to only 50 people, family members of all levels are welcome to join for a relaxing morning in the park.
