As we trek further into October, you have probably started to notice the leaves changing into rich, warm hues. With summer in the rearview mirror and the temperatures continuing to drop, it is almost that time of the year for peak fall foliage.
This autumn, it looks like the fall foliage report has the peak reaching Virginia between Oct. 12 and 28; with peak for NoVA hitting the region around Oct. 19. The foliage will be past its peak in the region by Oct. 26. According to the Virginia Department of Forestry the average peak for the region comes between Oct. 10 and 20.
That means if you want to peep the leaves this season, the next two weeks is the best time to do it. There are a variety of actvities you can do to catch the changing foliage, including taking a ride down Skyline Drive, zip lining through the trees of NoVA or taking a hike to view the beautiful colors at a local park.
If you already have plans for the next two weeks, you can always take a trip across the river to Maryland or DC, which is expected to peak around Oct. 26.
