Another area museum has opened its door to the public. After being closed for six months, the Washington Heritage Museums, which includes the Mary Washington House, Rising Sun Tavern and Hugh Mercer Apothecary, is welcoming visitors back through its doors.
The Washington Heritage Museums will be open Fridays through Mondays from noon to 4 p.m. The St. James’ House is not conducting its annual fall opening this year and is scheduled to reopen for tours in April 2021 for Garden Week.
When visiting one of these locations, museum goers will notice that interactive components have been removed from the tours. The second floors of the Mary Washington House and the Hugh Mercer Apothecary Shop will be closed to visitors due to inadequate spacing for social distancing.
If you would like to visit one of the heritage museums, visitors will have to purchase online tickets in advance. Guided tours will also run every half hour from noon to 4 p.m., with the last tour starting at 3:30 p.m.
All three of the Washington Heritage Museums have put special procedures in place in order to protect the health and safety of visitors and staff. This includes smaller tours to allow for social distancing, enhanced cleaning procedures for high-touch areas, mask requirements when in the building and one-way touring when possible. // 1300 Charles St., Fredericksburg; $3-$18
