Spring cleaning took on a whole new meaning over the past few months as everyone was cleaning out their home while being stuck inside. With consignment shops and thrift stores temporarily closing their doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, bags of donations have probably been piling up in your home. Now that Virginia is in phase three of reopening, many of these businesses have reopened their doors and are once again accepting clothing donations. Take your clothing donations to one of these nine local consignment shops, thrift stores and nonprofits in Northern Virginia to give your closet a summer refresh.

ECHO – Ecumenical Community Helping Others

This nonprofit charity helps provide food, clothes and financial help to those in the community with short-term emergencies. Falls Church Clock Tower Thrift Shop

Drop off your gently used clothes and home goods with GreenDrop. All donations go to a variety of charities, including the American Red Cross, Military Order of the Purple Heart and National Federation of the Blind. Hope’s Treasures is a part of the Good Shepherd Alliance, which helps people in need help find homes, jobs, mentors and more. Sales from the thrift shop benefit the charity and local homeless shelters. // 703 E. Market St., Leesburg
