McLean Community Center’s Super Summer Scavenger Hunt begins in July

Lasting through August, the scavenger hunt is a free and virtual event meant for all ages.

By Holly Gambrell June 30, 2020 at 2:22 pm

As events continue to be postponed and canceled through the summer due to the pandemic, you might be looking at your calendar and thinking, “Now what?” But just because the region is practicing social distancing for the foreseeable future doesn’t mean you and your family and friends can’t have fun together in the weeks ahead.

McLean Community Center is launching its Super Summer Scavenger Hunt, starting tomorrow, Wednesday, July 1. Lasting through Monday, Aug. 17, the free and virtual event allows teams to compete against others for the chance to win prizes.

To play, participants will need a smartphone to complete indoor and outdoor “missions,” including answering questions, taking specific photos or videos, finding a specific item, geocaching or completing specific tasks as given in a list provided by the McLean Community Center. The scavenger hunt itself will take place in and around the McLean area.

Participants may work in teams with up to 10 players, and team captains must be 16 years old or older. The scavenger hunt will have a maximum of 125 teams, and the first 50 teams to register will receive special gift bags.

Registration is open through Monday, Aug. 3 and can be completed at mcleancenter.org.
