Old Town Boutique District launches #getdressed challenge

It’s easy to stay in sweats and PJs all day and night when working from home and practicing social distancing, but OTBD is challenging you to get dressed.

One of the few joys of working from during the coronavirus pandemic is you don’t have to wear business attire. Sweatpants and messy hair? Yes, please! It sounds great … at first. After a while it can make you feel sleepy and unproductive. Enter the #getdressed challenge.

Starting Monday, March 23, the challenge, being promoted by Old Town Boutique District encourages Northern Virginians to get out of their PJs, workout clothes, loungwear, etc. and get dressed like they would for a normal day in the office. The challenge hopes to promote productivity and positivity, and will run Mondays through Fridays, ending on Friday, April 3.

Participants should post their outfits on their Instagram stories and tag @alhstyle, @styleamg and @otboutiques, and also use the hashtag #getdressed, to enter into the challenge.

ALH Style’s Ali Hellmuth did the challenge a few months ago, gaining traction on social media, and now it is back for two weeks with the help of the Old Town Boutique District and Mint Condition’s Marisa Gonzalez.

Winners of the challenge will receive gift cards to participating Old Town Boutique District businesses, who will each select their favorite outfits to choose who wins their donated gift card.

The challenge even comes with “mood-based dressing” for each day during the first week. Participants will interpret each “mood” and express it through their outfits. Monday is strong; Tuesday is authentic; Wednesday is smart; Thursday is happy; and Friday is sexy.

Week two will feature out-of-the-box components: Monday’s challenge is to have your child, partner or best friend pick out your outfit; Tuesday’s is to coordinate outfits with your child, dog, partner or best friend; Wednesday’s challenge is style your most recent spring purchase; Thursday’s is to style the same item in a different way; and Friday’s challenge is to get dressed for date night, family night or a FaceTime happy hour with your friends.
